HTC 8X is getting the Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update as I write this.
A while ago, Daniel Rubino pointed this out, and sure enough, the update showed up on my phone as well. I’m downloading it as I write this.
The Windows Phone 8 GDR2 OS update brings a host of features (and some back after being disabled earlier) to the devices.
New Xbox Music app, improvements to Internet Explorer, Skype. Phones with FM radio support in the hardware will have it enabled, and Data Sense will be unlocked for more devices, assuming the carrier supports it. You will also be able to choose your desired camera lens and have it open by default when you tap on the camera app tile/icon.
I’ll update this post with screenshots before and after installing the update. Hang in there!
PS: If you have a Windows Phone 8 device, push “Check Updates” if you don’t see an update just yet. If you get an update, let us know.
Update: The GDR2 update has installed, and sure enough, FM Radio has been enabled now. Here’s a screenshot.
You can access it from the Music app. Tap on Music, find
it under Collection.
